FAAC Welding & Fabrication: The Cerritos Owner’s Guide

When a FAAC gate part cracks, bends, or shears, we fabricate the replacement and install it, usually within one to three business days for most Cerritos jobs. Typical installed pricing runs $220 to $480 for common bracket and hinge fabrications, while heavier structural repairs like a broken gate frame or post mount run $600 to $1,100. Most owners discover the problem the same way: the gate sags an inch, drags on the driveway, or the operator starts laboring against metal that no longer lines up the way it should.

We’re an independent gate company, not affiliated with FAAC, but we’ve welded and fabricated for their systems since the 844 and 400 series were the common installs around Cerritos and the surrounding South Bay. The repair usually starts with a phone call to (747) 298-3226, a description of what’s bent or broken, and a photo if you have one handy. From there we can usually tell you whether this is a same-week fix or a same-day one.

  • We stock common FAAC mounting brackets, hinge plates, and gate frame stock on our trucks.
  • Installed pricing is quoted before any work starts, in writing, with no surprise line items.
  • Every fabrication job carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

Our welding and fabrication work covers the full range of FAAC swing and slide gate operators commonly installed across Cerritos, from the older 400 and 750 series to the current 844, C720, C721, S450H, and S800H lines. The fabrication side typically involves the steel components that connect the operator to the gate itself: mounting plates, drive brackets, hinge assemblies, rack mounts, and the gate frame where the operator bolts on.

Here’s the compatibility detail that matters with FAAC: the mounting geometry changed between the older 400-series and the current 844-series operators, so a bracket from an early 2000s install won’t always match a newer motor without modification. When you call, we’ll ask you to look for the silver FAAC data label on the operator body. The model number and serial are printed right on it. If the label is weathered beyond reading, we measure the bolt pattern and the output shaft height, then match against FAAC’s published templates.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for structural parts like hinges and mounting plates, a well-made fabricated replacement from 1/4-inch steel plate will frequently outlast the original cast or stamped part. FAAC’s motors are excellent. Some of their factory brackets were undersized for heavy gates, and that’s usually where the failure starts. We fabricate replacements to the original dimensions with better material when the application calls for it. We’ll tell you honestly which route makes sense, because the answer changes depending on the gate and the part.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

  • The gate sags toward the latch side. This usually means a hinge weld has cracked or the hinge plate has begun tearing away from the post. The gate still opens, but the operator is fighting extra friction every cycle.
  • The operator mount plate is loose or visibly cracked. FAAC operators torque against their mounting brackets every time the gate moves. A hairline crack in the plate is the first warning that the bracket is about to let go entirely.
  • The gate shudders or vibrates mid-travel. That shudder is often a drive bracket that has elongated its bolt holes, letting the operator push against slop instead of clean steel.
  • You hear a metal-on-metal scrape when the gate moves. When a hinge wears or a frame member bends, the gate leaf drops just enough to drag on a post, a latch, or the concrete.
  • The gate stops mid-cycle and reverses. The FAAC control board senses the resistance from a binding hinge or a warped frame section and assumes there’s an obstruction. The board isn’t wrong; it’s just reacting to steel that’s no longer in line.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we charge to weld and fabricate FAAC gate parts in Cerritos, parts and labor included:

Repair Type Typical Installed Range
Hinge plate fabrication and re-weld (per hinge) $180 - $320
Operator mounting bracket, fabricated to FAAC spec $220 - $380
Gate frame crack repair and reinforcement $300 - $550
Post mount rebuild or replacement preparation $400 - $700
Full gate frame straightening and re-weld $600 - $1,100

The range comes down to steel thickness, weld length, access to the work, and whether the gate has to come off its hinges or can be worked in place. We also stock welded gate frames fabricated to order for FAAC automated gates, preserving the original operator and controls. Every job includes the fabrication, the install, the weld cleanup and paint, and a final travel test of the operator to confirm the FAAC system runs without binding. The price is agreed before any work starts. That’s the square deal, and it’s the only way we quote.

We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems when a FAAC job turns up a secondary issue.

DIY or Call Us?

Welding a gate bracket or hinge is not a weekend project. The weld has to hold under repeated load, and a cold or shallow weld can fail without warning, dropping a gate that weighs several hundred pounds. If the part is cracked or torn, that’s a job for a trained welder with the right equipment and an understanding of how the FAAC operator loads that connection. We recommend you not attempt this repair yourself.

What an owner can safely do is inspect. Look at the hinge plates, the operator bracket, and the gate frame for visible cracks, rust-through, or movement when the gate is pushed by hand. Take a photo with your phone and call us. Victor Salinas has been welding these gates around Cerritos for decades, and he can usually tell from a photo and a description whether you’ve got a simple bracket swap or a frame-level repair. For anything beyond inspection, call (747) 298-3226 and we’ll schedule a visit.
